Summer of Retools

This week, the TF team has been rolling out various exclusives and Legacy United wave 4, culminating in this afternoon's preorders going live.

Amusingly (to me), this entire slate of releases is composed of repaints or retools, save for one. Even so, it's (again, to me) a great lineup:

-Core class Geocron: I prefer this to Bouldercrash. The purple highlights are great, and I love the creepy new head sculpt. Also, he has the best name of the new infernac toys (with Shard not far behind).

-Core class Energon Galvatron: I would have preferred a black crown deco and silver face, but otherwise this looks great. I'm really happy that we got both decos for this mold, and hope for more Energon representation in the future.

-Deluxe class Slipstream: I'm excited to finally get my first Slipstream. The Cyberverse universe Windblade mold is pretty good, and I appreciate the new tooling. The deco look great.

-Deluxe class Quake: I was initially disappointed to learn this would be a Skullgrin retool, since his tank mode is very wonky, but I was impressed with how "normal" of a tank they were able to achieve with Quake. I'm also surprised that the targetmasters are new molds.

-Deluxe class Optimus Prime: this is the G1-toy influenced design, like a smaller, cheaper Missing Link in concept. It's very impressive for a deluxe, and I love that we are getting two deluxe Primes w/Matrix accessories this year (the other being SS-112). I'm quite happy to get this version over the more expensive ML release, even if ML does some things better.

-Voyager class Metalhawk: not a pure refresh, Metalhawk has an updated deco that I will likely take advantage of. An interesting move, akin to Legacy Galvatron but involving plastic color changes rather than paint op changes.

-Voyager class Animated Motormaster: based directly on the Botcon version, this is a great redeco of the very good Legacy Animated Optimus mold. The colors are about as good as can be and I'm ok with the new head.

-Leader class Armada Galvatron: in concept, I'm pretty excited, but we now see that there is a new, screaming face mold and my more cream color rather than white. The face I don't mind too much, but I'd rather the white be corrected. That said, I love that two of the three UT Galvatron designs appear in a single wave! I do hope that Cybertron Mega/Galvatron gets revisited soon.
